Dear Parents and Carers
As your child moves from Nursery to ‘Big School’ it is important to make the right decision about which school to choose. I am the Headteacher of St Mary’s Catholic Primary School in Glamis Street in Bognor and I would be delighted to show you around our school and discuss what we can offer your child.
We are located close to the beach and Hotham Park, both of which are places we visit regularly. We have a dedicated team of staff who work hard to make sure your child settles happily into their first year at school. Our bright, welcoming classrooms are always full of life and you are welcome to arrange a tour with us so you can see this for yourself.
We have a large field behind the school where the children play at break and lunchtimes. There is an area for outdoor learning, and regular ‘Beach School’ in EYFS.
We are very proud of our Catholic ethos and often gather for assemblies and Masses. However, every year we welcome and educate children of all faiths and none. Embracing and nurturing every child and family just the same. We encourage the children to develop awe and wonder in the world around them so they learn an appreciation of God’s wonderful world.
From the first day in Reception class they are encouraged to work with other children and explore the learning opportunities around them. There are many similarities with nursery provision including outside areas, water play and plenty of music and art. We also promote reading through specific phonics teaching and give children opportunities to develop their maths through games and puzzles.
We are a one and a half form entry school. This means that we are large enough to provide excellent resources for children but small enough to know every child personally. Our reception classes generally have only around 22 pupils per class. By working with parents we are able to bring out the very best in your child.

If you would like to make an application for admission to St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, this must be in completed by indicating us as your preference on the WSCC online admissions form, as well as completing the Supplementary Information Form (SIF) which can be downloaded below. Alternatively, hard copies can be collected from the school office.

Finally, don’t forget the national deadline for Reception Class admissions in September 2024 is the 15th January, 2024. The online form must be submitted, and the SIF handed into the school office no later than this date to be considered for an on-time application.
