It is a great privilege to be elected as Chair of Governors of our school and firstly, may I pay tribute to
Sheila Higgins who has moved to the position of Vice-Chair, and Kelly Burchell who will continue as a
foundation Governor; they have both committed a tremendous amount of time and energy to their
roles as Chair and Vice-Chair for which we are so grateful.
I was first a Governor at St. Mary’s almost exactly 30 years ago and acted as Chair from 1998 to 2013
when my term of office ended. Sheila Higgins invited me to return as a Governor in 2019, since when I
have served on the Finance Committee and the Catholic Ethos Committee.
In my working life I am a Flower Farmer and also provide Therapeutic Gardening in residential care settings.
We are blessed with a wonderful school community and, for me, the most important thing is that every member of the community, whatever their role, should feel valued, nurtured and supported. I look forward to working with my fellow Governors and the whole school community to journey and grow in the
footsteps of Jesus Christ.
