Y6 Residential Trip to the Isle of Wight

Sep 17, 2021 | News

I was delighted to join Year 6 on their trip to the Isle of Wight last week. Although the weather was very variable, (we had everything from blazing sunshine to torrential rain), the children took every challenge in their stride and showed amazing resilience. They were allocated cabins with their friends and spent their days on outdoor adventurous activities and their evenings on activities as varied as Passport to the World and songs around the campfire. We all had the chance to conquer our fear of heights on the Vertical Challenge and our fear of being flung across the Solent on Big Swing.

The children behaved beautifully and supported each other on the various activities. I was impressed by the willingness of the children to step out of their comfort zones and try something new. They (mostly) kept their cabins tidy and they never moaned about the weather. My huge thanks go to Mr Mortimore, Miss Breese, Mrs Guy and Mrs Phillips who have given up their time to organise and manage the trip. Having booked and cancelled the trip twice because of Covid it certainly was third time lucky!
