Last year, Year 5 and 6 wrote letters to Channel 4 about an old mansion they believe lies under our school field. Our Chair of Governors, Tony Lucas, confirmed that this is probably the case by looking at old maps and finds.
We have been lucky enough to be joined by The Great British Dig team this week alongside a whole film crew and production team, looking for the mansion under our school field.
The began work on Monday by removing the top layer of turf. Hugh Dennis, who presents the show, arrived on Wednesday and he and Chloe (and all the cameras!) joined Key Stage 2 for an assembly about the dig. The site will be open to the public on Saturday complete with finds and further information.
As always our children made us proud with their questions, interest and behaviour during the dig. We will keep you posted on what has been found!
